Homework/Class work
Students have class work or homework daily (no homework on Fridays). If students do not finish class work they may bring it home to finish and turn in the next day for full credit. Late work is accepted for each chapter until the assessment day on that topic. Half credit will be given for ALL late work. Work is not accepted after a formal assessment has been given for that topic.
Assessments
Students may re-take any assessment that is below 80%. Your re-take grade will replace your previous grade. This must be taken in the RSC during that students lunch period and completed no more than 2 school days after assessment is returned, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Participation
Participation in class is an essential part of the learning experience. Each student is encouraged and also expected to participate when appropriate. Students will be given daily participation points.
Grading
Student’s grades are based on assessments, homework, class work, and participation. Assessments are worth 75% of their total grade and homework, class work, and participation are worth 25%. The district wide grade scale below will be used to determine the letter grade for that marking period.
The following district-wide grade scale will be used.
A+ 98% and above C 77-72%
A 97-92% C- 71-70%
A- 91-90% D+ 69-68%
B+ 89-88% D 67-62%
B 87-82% D- 61-60%
B- 81-80% E 59-50%
C+ 79-78% F 49-0%
Absences
If a student is absent it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to get the work that they have missed and turn it in the next day. There are boxes labeled with the days of the week where any handouts that were given out are placed. Students may pick up hand outs or homework they missed before or afterclass. I will NOT use class time to catch students up on missing work. If you miss an assessment plan on staying after school the next day or come in on your lunch period to the RSC to make it up. If assessments are not made up with in 2 days they will be zeroes.
Tardy Policy
Warren Mott High School’s tardy policy is strictly enforced.
Extra Help
If you ever feel confused about anything we have covered in class, or if you would just like me to explain something again, please come in for extra help! I will be staying after school twice a
week from 2:30-3:30 for extra help. Students will need to sign up the day before extra help is offered so that I know who will be staying.
Class Decorum
When you enter our classroom, I expect that the language you use will be appropriate AT ALL TIMES. Furthermore, ensure that you are dressed properly, in accordance with the school dress code, or I will ask you to leave the room.
Copying
In the instance of copying—whether it is an essay, a paragraph of an essay, a homework assignment, a test in class, or a project--BOTH parties involved will receive a zero on the assignment and also a phone call home.
